Dr. Andy Berglund, Professor and Director of the Berglund Lab at the University of Florida Center for NeuroGenetics, describes how he was introduced to Myotonic Dystrophy (DM), why he chose to study the disease and the impact he and his colleagues have made through research. Dr. Berglund also provides a glimpse into the future of DM research and how it relates to other neuromuscular diseases (ALS and ataxias).
We recently interviewed Jami Bueker about her involvement with Promise to Kate. Jami joined the board approximately two years ago and brings with her a wealth of non-profit experience. She was recently named Executive Director of Vision is Priceless, a local non-profit that provides vision screening and access to vision care for the uninsured and underserved in our community. Jami’s energy, good judgement and willingness to help wherever needed has been invaluable to us. We are truly honored that she serves as a member of our board.
Dr. Eric Wang, Promise To Kate's Research Advisor, tells the story of how he was led to Myotonic Dystrophy (DM) research, how he is writing a new story that pulls together several important pieces of this complicated puzzle called DM, and how connecting as a community through PTK will help us accomplish our goals.
